NSBS, the Bulgarian National Freight Forwarding Association has been established to represent the Bulgarian freight forwarding industry and to protect its interests at national and international level. The association brings together almost all proven companies that cover the entire spectrum of freight forwarding and logistics.
Since 1992 NSBS has been working for the sustainable development of the Bulgarian freight forwarding sector, for improving the legal basis of the freight forwarding in Bulgaria, for raising the reputation of the freight forwarding profession and ensuring the security and prevention of risks in the work of the member companies.
Today the association represents more than 120 freight forwarding and logistics companies, which is undoubted evidence of the constantly increasing confidence in NSBS because we strive to develop according to the needs of the members, to expand the range of services to facilitate their activities and to work in the interest of the Bulgarian freight forwarding and logistics sector.
NSBS is a member of FIATA (the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations) and CLECAT (European Association for Forwarding, Transport, Logistics and Customs Services).
Since 1994 NSBS has represented Bulgaria in the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations FIATA. Representatives of NSBS participate in FIATA’s bodies
Since 2000 NSBS has been acting as a Secretariat of the Consultative Committee of the South East European Freight Forwarders Associations
Since 2003 NSBS is a member of CLECAT (European Association for forwarding, transport, logistics and customs services) and thereby has a voice in the transport decisions of the European Commission.

In 1996 NSBS prepared and imposed among its members “Standard Trading & Warehousing Conditions”, which impose high professional standards for the forwarding and logistic services they offer. In cooperation with renowned insurers, NSBS has developed and introduced an insurance policy, which covers the liability of the freight forwarder to its customer-shippers.
In 1996 NSBS developed for the first time in Bulgaria Manual and Programme for professional preparation of freight forwarders. NSBS was accredited by FIATA to conduct vocational training courses and to issue an internationally recognized diploma for professional competence in the freight forwarding profession.
In 1999 NSBS was given the right to provide its members with FIATA documents: the Multimodal Transport Bill of Lading (FIATA FBL), the FIATA Forwarder’s Certificate of Receipt (FIATA FCR), the FIATA Warehouse Receipt (FIATA FWR), etc.
In 2002 Vocational training centre – NSBS was established and accredited with licence on national and international level to hold specialized courses in freight forwarding and logistics.
In 2012 Vocational training centre – NSBS built up its own platform and introduced distance training in 13 specialized programmes.
In 2013 NSBS established a Court of Arbitration specialized for settlement of transport and freight forwarding law disputes.
In 2015 NSBS created an E-manual in freight forwarding in accordance with the standards of FIATA.
In 2015 NSBS established employment and internship platform in order to support the Trainee programme and to increase the attractiveness of the freight forwarding profession among young people.
In 2016 experts from NSBS and NAVET developed state educational standards for the profession “Freight forwarder-logistic” and Vocational Training Centre – NSBS was licensed for profession “Freight forwarder-logistic” and profession ”Courier “.
In 2017 Vocational training centre - NSB was approved by the Employment agency as vocational training provider under the Operational programme Human Resources Development 2014-2020 scheme "Vouchers for Employed Persons".
In 2018 NSBS published a new printed edition of the Manual in freight forwarding in accordance with the standards of FIATA.
