The discussions were opened by Mr Tsvetin Todorov, Chairman of the Board of the Bulgarian National Transport Association, who presented some of the main current challenges in the field of freight forwarding and logistics in our country, focusing on several main areas:
- Labour shortage and challenges for the workforce
- Digital transformation of the sector
- Regulatory changes in Bulgaria and the EU
- Supply chain disruptions and restrictions
- Globalisation and geopolitical risks
Mr Veselin Stoyanov, Member of the Board of the Bulgarian National Transport Association, presented his vision for the Green Deal, the present and future of e-cars and related infrastructure.
Mr. Georgi Minchev, Honorary Member and former Chairman of the Board of the Bulgarian National Transport Association, analysed the current geopolitical situation on a global and regional scale, focusing on Bulgaria's role and place in the current and emerging trade and economic blocs.
Mr. Kiril Petrov of GrECo Bulgaria introduced the participants to the main aspects of measures to counteract and protect against working with phantom carriers and/or forwarders and presented a number of real-life examples.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Momchil Antov, Director of the National Customs Service of Bulgaria, gave a brief overview of the customs information system Import Control System 2 (ICS2) - Release 3, which will be mandatory for all types of transport from this year. In his presentation he emphasised the role, place and responsibilities of carriers in collecting, processing and submitting information to customs control authorities via ICS2 when goods are brought into the territory of the Union from third countries.
The event ended with a festive dinner and party where participants had the opportunity to discuss many other topics of interest and importance to the industry.
