FIATA at 100: NSBS Participates in the Jubilee World Congress in Milan

On October 6, the FIATA World Congress 2026 - themed "Empowering Global Logistics" - was officially opened in Milan. This year’s event holds special significance for the international freight forwarding and logistics community, as FIATA marks its centenary.

The congress brings together representatives from freight forwarding and logistics organizations, companies, and professionals from around the globe to discuss key challenges and opportunities facing the sector amidst shifting trade flows, geopolitical uncertainty, supply chain transformation, and the rapid adoption of digital technologies.

Representatives from the Bulgarian National Freight Forwarding Association (NSBS) are participating in the congress: Tsvetin Todorov (NSBS Chairman), Ivan Petrov (NSBS Vice-Chairman and former FIATA President), and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Momchil Antov (Director of the Association). From the very first day, they engaged in working sessions and discussions on topics critical to the development of international freight forwarding and logistics, while also networking with representatives from freight forwarding organizations and companies worldwide.

The opening of the congress highlighted FIATA’s role as the global representative of the freight forwarding profession and emphasized the need for knowledge, professional competence, innovation, and international cooperation to build more resilient, efficient, and sustainable supply chains.

What lies ahead?

On October 7, the focus will be on the reconfiguration of global supply chains and shifting trade flows, the restructuring of multimodal transport corridors, and the resolution of existing bottlenecks, as well as on cybersecurity, Single Window systems, and connected trade.

Key topics for October 8 include the customs of the future; the role of tariffs, data, and *de minimis* regimes; risk management; insurance; and safety and security within a volatile international trade environment. The program also features practical workshops dedicated to digital trade corridors and maritime market intelligence.

NSBS’s participation in the FIATA World Congress offers an opportunity not only to track global sector trends but also to showcase the Bulgarian freight forwarding community, exchange expertise, and build new international professional partnerships.
