The Bulgarian National Freight Forwarding Association (NSBS) supports the request by some of the country’s road hauliers to introduce swift and targeted measures to offset the rising fuel costs in commercial road transport.
We believe that such mechanisms should be viewed as a tool for limiting inflationary pressure, maintaining the competitiveness of Bulgarian transport and logistics companies, and ensuring the sustainable functioning of supply chains.
Road transport is a key component of the Bulgarian economy, and fuel costs account for a significant portion of the cost of transport services. The increase in these costs inevitably affects the prices of goods and services, impacting both businesses and end consumers. In this regard, supporting the sector during periods of significant price pressure has the potential to limit secondary inflationary effects on the economy.
In a number of European Union member states, various forms of support for the commercial transport sector are being implemented in response to a sharp rise in fuel costs. Such measures help maintain the sector’s competitiveness and mitigate negative economic effects. In the absence of similar instruments, Bulgarian companies are placed at a competitive disadvantage compared to operators from other countries.

We believe that such measures can help limit inflationary pressure, preserve the competitiveness of Bulgarian transport and logistics companies, and ensure the sustainable functioning of supply chains.
